Apartment and condo pricing across the Triad, broken out by floor
Quoting a unit relies on a different set of inputs than quoting a house. We weigh which floor you’re on, how tight and steep the stair turns get, whether a service elevator needs booking ahead of time, and any paperwork the leasing office wants before the date. Across High Point, Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and the rest of the Piedmont Triad, On 3 Moving runs apartment and condo jobs every day of the week, and your belongings get wrapped and logged piece-by-piece just the way they would on a house move. Choose the unit type and floor below for a fast estimate.

Fixed price brackets by unit size and floor
Here are the set-rate brackets we use for in-area apartment work across the Triad. Built into each one are the crew and truck, dollies, the floor runners, stairwell protection, and the moving pads. Nothing is held in reserve to surprise you when the job wraps.

Why an extra floor or two shifts the number
A third-floor walk-up costs more than a ground-level unit for a simple reason — every load has to be carried up and back down the stairs, and the narrow landing turns you find in an aging building near downtown High Point or in a converted Winston-Salem mill add still more minutes on top. Add an elevator to the building and the price tends to land near a second-floor walk-up: we’re still reserving the elevator slot and shielding the shared hallways while the crew moves through them.
Charges unique to apartment and condo moves
A rented unit or condo brings along several charges a freestanding house never deals with. Budget a bit for these in addition to the crew’s labor:
- The Certificate of Insurance (COI). A managed building will usually keep the crew waiting at the door until they have your mover’s Certificate of Insurance in hand. We issue ours same-day at no charge. If the building also tacks on its own move-in or move-out fee, count on $150–$500 going straight to the property rather than to us.
- Booking the service elevator. Most Triad high-rises and lofts require the freight elevator to be reserved ahead of time, occasionally against a refundable deposit ($300–$650). We handle securing the window; that deposit is strictly an arrangement between you and the office.
- Distance from the truck to the entrance. Our paperwork carries no separate long-carry charge, but when the closest legal parking spot is roughly 75 feet from your door, the job naturally takes longer — and your flat figure already accounts for that.
- Reserving curb space. A few of the narrower blocks around the Uptowne lofts and downtown Greensboro call for a temporary reserved no-parking zone or a loading permit pulled through the city, running roughly $40–$80 a day. Give us about three days’ notice and we’ll file the request.
- Cartons and packing labor. Need supplies? We pass them along at our cost with no markup — a typical one-bedroom set of boxes comes to around $115. Want us to do the packing? Having our crew box up a one-bedroom starts near $420.
The Triad-area buildings our crew handles all the time
By now our crew has the access points, the parking situation, and the elevator drill memorized for the sorts of residences common to this area:
- Uptowne lofts and converted-mill units. The renovated downtown lofts around the High Point Market district and the converted Winston-Salem and Greensboro mill buildings, the ones with skinny back staircases and tight curb parking. Stair runners and door-jamb guards travel with the team as standard gear.
- High-rises and student-area towers. Towers in downtown Greensboro and Winston-Salem plus the apartment buildings around High Point University with reserved freight elevators and protected loading docks. Runners and edge guards are loaded on the truck every single trip.
- Drive-up garden complexes. The Jamestown, Kernersville, Archdale, and Adams Farm communities where the truck pulls right in past a keypad gate. These tend to be the quickest apartment jobs we schedule.
- Managed and senior buildings. The buildings that require a COI on file and a reserved elevator slot. Ahead of the date we arrange both the documentation and the elevator booking directly with management, so the move-in never stalls.
Frequent questions about apartment move costs
Do you add a fee for each flight of stairs?
We don’t. There’s no per-flight line item anywhere on the invoice. A higher unit does nudge the overall flat figure up somewhat, because the carrying keeps the crew on the clock longer — but that lives inside the single price and is never itemized separately.
My building wants a certificate of insurance — what’s the process?
We back every move with $1M in cargo coverage and full crew workers’ comp, which makes producing the certificate routine — the same day, free of charge, we’ll forward one to your property manager or owner. Just send us their contact the moment your date is reserved.
Can you clear the old unit and set up the new one in a single day?
Absolutely. A single-day job spanning two addresses is everyday work for us — one crew clears out the old unit and gets you set up at the new place, and nobody else is ever brought in to take it over. Note both addresses on the request form and we’ll tighten the number for you.
What if the next place isn’t ready yet?
Our climate-controlled storage right here in the Triad means the same crew can warehouse your things, whether that’s a couple of days or several weeks, then bring everything over the moment keys are in hand — covered under the single quote. Unsure how your dates will line up? Call (888) 711-4778.
